

Janus Charity Challenge surpasses $1 million mark at 2002 Ironman Wisconsin
MADISON, Wisc.-The Janus Charity Challenge, a program run in conjunction with Ironman North America events are the U.S. surpassed the $1 million dollar mark for funds raised in 2002 at the 2002 Ironman Wisconsin triathlon.
The Janus Charity Challenge is a program that is designed to encourage athletes to use the 2002 Ironman North America qualifying events as a platform for raising financial support for their favorite nonprofit organization.
All athletes competing in any Ironman North America event in 2002 can participate in the program and raise money for the nonprofit organization of their choice.
For the top three individual fundraisers at each race, Janus will make an additional donation to their designated charity in the following amounts: First place, $10,000; second place, $5,000; and third place, $3,000. The beneficiary of the top team fundraisers (any group of three or more) will receive a contribution of $8,500.
In addition, the first-place fundraiser¹s entry fee will be waived for the the Ironman North America race of his or her choice within the next 12 months.
In addition to its donations to the top three fundraisers' charities, Janus will contribute $700 to the chosen nonprofit group designated by the next 25 who raise the most money in the Janus Charity Challenge at the an Ironman North America U.S. event.
In total, 26 individual athletes and one team raised $343,761.16 at Ironman Wisconsin.

In total, with one event remaining (Ironman Florida), Ironman athletes and Janus have raised $1,048,782.21 through the Janus Charity Challenge in 2002, topping the 2002 goal with one race remaining.
For the first time this year, Janus will also be hosting the Charity Challenge at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 19.

1st place Team-Team in Training (Southern California Branch)-raised $90,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The following athletes also competed in the Janus Charity Challenge at Ironman Wisconsin. Each of their beneficiaries will receive an additional contribution of $750.
