Perry Rendina Carpe Diem Award
Rendina Profile The triathlon community lost a great member of its family at Ironman California 2001. Perry Rendina had a love for running and triathlon that started when he was 9-years-old. He would run 10 miles every Sunday night with his older brother while he was growing up. Perry planned to run for the rest of his life, which he did.

Perry was the type of person who would stop and help someone in need - even if he were having his best race ever. He would then continue on and make the best of the remainder of the event. His motto was Carpe Diem - "Seize the Day" - and he lived his life doing just that.

In honor of Perry, North America Sports has created the annual Perry Rendina Carpe Diem Award. Anyone is welcome to nominate an Ironman athlete that they feel best embodies the spirit with which Perry lived his life. All nominations must be submitted by October 1, each year, and the honoree will be personally selected by the Rendina family.

Presentation of the award will take place at the Ironman Florida Awards Banquet. The winner will also receive a complimentary entry into a North America Sports race of his or her choice for the following year and a $1000 donation will be made to the charity of his or her choice in Perry's name. If the winner cannot be present at the banquet, arrangements will be made to forward the award to them and set up the donation.
